N.C. county considering fees for false alarms

Wayne County, N.C., is starting to think about false alarm fees. In the Goldsboro News-Argus newspaper, it was reported this week that the county's sheriff office has been dealing with a high number of false alarms. In fact, according to the report, 100 percent of alarm calls in the past three months have been false alarms.

With the town of Goldsboro (in Wayne County) already having a fee system in place, and with county commissioners and the sheriff's office considering such a policy, it likely won't be long before a similar program is enacted in the county.

The sheriff told the newspaper that a fee-based false alarm policy could be submitted to the county commission within a few months.
