Ioimage, an Israeli company that manufacturers intelligent video devices, received the nod last week to be part of the perimeter security system at four New York-area airports. The company's intelligent video devices will be installed by integrator 4D Security Solutions at JFK, LaGuardia, Newark International and Teterboro.
The project is part of a larger project by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The Port Authority contracted with Raytheon to create a high-tech perimeter intrusion detection system. The contract between the Port Authority and Raytheon was reportedly worth approximately $100 million.
Ioimage's technology uses video algorithms that can, among other things, identify perimeter intrusions. The technology was tested by Israel's IDF against a variety of perimeter threats during its development, and was showcased this fall in the U.S. for the first time at the ASIS International Seminars and Exhibits show in San Diego, Calif.
