Software House is introducing a new single reader version of its popular iSTAR Edge controller, to complement the current portfolio of 2- and 4-reader models, at ISC West booth 20009. The iSTAR Edge portfolio of controllers provides cost-effective, comprehensive access control for installations using a single network cable to each door. Utilizing Power over Ethernet (PoE), all iSTAR Edge controllers leverage existing network infrastructure to dramatically reduce installation costs, and are suitable for placement above or near the door. iSTAR Edge can be clustered with any other iSTAR controller (including iSTAR Edge iSTAR eX, and iSTAR Pro) to provide advanced clustering, peer-to-peer communication, intrusion zones and keypad commands, extended card numbers, advanced door monitoring, and anti-passback.
The new single-reader iSTAR Edge controller increases overall system reliability by providing localized decision-making at each door. Its local cardholder database of more than 250,000 personnel, along with local alarm and transaction buffering ensure reliable security even if communication to the host is unavailable. As part of an end-to-end C·CURE system, iSTAR Edge provides a highly desired solution for customers looking to leverage their existing network infrastructure and secure smaller offices or areas within their corporation.
