Boca Raton, Fla. — Software House, a leading access control brand of Tyco International, announced Tuesday its C-CURE 9000 Event Management System has attained the U.S. Government’s Federal Information Processing Standards Publications 197 validation. FIPS 197 validation is the government’s standard for Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption algorithm. It is the preferred cryptographic method utilized by U.S. government agencies due to its high-level cryptographic key strength.
The intuitive C-CURE 9000 provides a highly secure solution, both from physical and logical security perspectives, by leveraging standard IT processes and innovative architecture. C-CURE 9000 fully supports the Software House iSTAR eX controller, which is capable of reading the full Federal Agency Smart Credential Number of the FIPS 201 PIV card. iSTAR eX was recently placed on the FIPS 140-2 validation list.
"The C-CURE 9000 security and event management system, when paired with the iSTAR eX controller, provides our customers with an access control and intrusion detection solution that secures communication without an additional encryption device," said Roger Roehr, manager of the government vertical market for Tyco International’s Access Control and Video Systems. "FIPS 197 validation is a significant accomplishment that positions Tyco International’s Software House brand as a leader in the security industry."
The FIPS 197 standard is a joint effort by the National Institute of Standards and Technology in the U.S. and the Communications Security Establishment Canada under the Canadian government. The standard provides third-party assurance of security claims on any product containing cryptography that may be purchased by a government agency.
C-CURE 9000 joins the growing list of Software House solutions which have been given FIPS 197 validation. Last March, C-CURE 800/8000 was also awarded FIPS 197 validation.
