GE Security, a business of GE Enterprise Solutions, today announced the expansion of its Transition card reader series with three new Personal Identity Verification (PIV) readers – the T-500-PIV, T-520-PIV and T-525-PIV.
Designed to help customers meet the PIV requirements mandated by Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12), the new readers allow customers to transition from their current access credential to the new PIV credential in a timely and cost effective manner by eliminating the need for a one-time mass changeover to new PIV technology.
The new GE Security PIV readers have the ability to read multiple access credential formats, offering users enhanced versatility that can mean greater ROI on security infrastructure investments. Approved by the U.S. government as FIPS 201-compliant PIV transparent readers, these new products from GE Security can help customers meet their real world security needs.
"GE Security is helping customers address their real world security challenges, including the need to quickly, efficiently and seamlessly migrate from older proximity cards to the new federal government-compliant PIV credentials," said Ken Francis, general manager, integration solutions platforms and access control products, GE Security. "The new T-500-PIV, T-520-PIV and T-525-PIV all read multiple formats, easily integrate with current systems and are an example of our continued pursuit of innovative solutions that deliver improved security and greater ROI for our customers."
Like other readers in the Transition Series, the T-500-PIV, T-520-PIV and T-525-PIV readers feature an optimization technology that adjusts to a wide range of installation mounting surfaces. They are available with or without keypads and offer mullion mount, mid-range and mid-range with keypad options. Their appearance also matches other Transition Series readers for a uniform presentation throughout the installation.
In addition, the readers’ designs accommodate both metal and non-metal environments. Durable UV-resistant material inhibits discoloration in all types of indoor and outdoor conditions, including direct sunlight. The readers feature advanced electronics and circuitry, and are sealed for protection against inclement weather.
