DAQ’S Entrowatch access control systems wins recognition at ASIS 2013
PISCATAWAY, NJ - September 20, 2013 - DAQ Electronics, a leading manufacturer of high-end security software and equipment, announced today that the company’s EntroWatch access control system was honored as a Top 10 product at this year’s ASIS International seminar and exhibits. The world’s first PoE/PoE+ native BACnet access control system, EntroWatch addresses emerging requirements in the commercial security market by offering integrators an easy to install, easy to maintain system designed to an industry standard. Presented by ASIS International, the Accolades Awards recognize security’s most innovative products, services, and solutions.
David Green, President of DAQ, commented, “With built-in BACnet compliance, EntroWatch offers a level of device interoperability previously unavailable in the commercial access control market. We are thrilled that an industry awards committee has once again recognized the significant benefits of an open protocol approach. I congratulate our technology development team on receiving another award for this product.”
Designed to communicate with any ANSI/ASHRAE 135-2010 compliant system, EntroWatch enables integration of access control, security, and building management systems including Lighting Controls, HVAC, Energy Management, and Life Safety. The use of an open protocol allows users to maximize the operating efficiency of their systems resulting in increased security, occupant comfort, and reduced operating costs.
EntroStar, the systems’ compact door controller, can utilize either PoE/PoE+ or locally supplied traditional DC power for unmatched installation flexibility. EntroStar supports connections for 2 doors and up to 4 Wiegand compatible readers along with supervised inputs for Door Contacts, Request to Exit, Door associated glass-break or auxiliary alarm input, and 3 supervised auxiliary inputs. When used with a PoE+ source, EntroStar can provide all required peripheral power including readers, door locking devices, and local battery charging with a combined current draw up to 1.9A. This leads to fewer installation hours and components required, while providing expanded system integration capabilities at significantly lower costs than other systems on the market.
A unique feature is the use of RJ45 jacks for the door reader connections allowing standard CAT5 FTP cabling for both readers and communications. Further refinements include a series of on-panel diagnostic LEDs that allow complete local commissioning without the need for special tools, meters, or a local PC. With BACnet providing self-configuration functionality and seamless auto-discovery of field hardware, the system offers a true plug and play experience.
Residing on the latest real-time, live tile based user interface, license-free1 EntroWatch software provides advanced functionality via integrated modules for access, configuration, event monitoring display, and photo ID badging. All relevant information can be viewed on a single screen with simple navigation using a mouse or touch-screen.
