Farpointe Data's ‘Auto-Unlock’ feature delivers flexible credential read timetables
San Jose, Calif., USA - April 29, 2020 - Farpointe Data, the access control industry's OEM for RFID credentials and readers, today announced that the new Auto-Unlock enhancement on its Conekt Wallet App for Apple iOS and iPhones (Version 1.2.0) can replace the current 10-second timing of the "Tap Here to Unlock" button with a 30 second or 1-, 2-, 3-, 4- or 5-minute response from a drop-down menu. These additional times are available when the Auto-Unlock feature is activated with a selected mobile access control credential designated with a star. When not selected to be on and/or a starred favorite credential is not chosen, timing for all remains at 10-seconds, the industry normal.
"When first arriving at the office, it may be a frustrating experience having to scramble to get the mobile access control credential read in only ten seconds," explains Scott Lindley, general manager of Farpointe Data. "Likewise, when working with longer range readers, the Auto-Unlock feature provides the added time often needed to create a more hands-free operation. For those familiar with using iPhones, the timings on the Conekt Wallet App roughly follow the times set by the Auto-Lock feature of the iPhone itself as well as that of Apple iOS. Conekt's Auto-Unlock feature continues to make the end-users' mobile access experience even better."
As the Conekt Wallet App counts down the Auto-Unlock timing, it continuously displays the interactive "Approach Reader to Unlock" message. When read during the countdown time, the iPhone displays its green check mark and "Credential Read Successfully" message. If time has expired and the access credential has not been read, the display shows "Tap to Try Again."
According to Lindley, "Improved Wallet App features, such as Auto-Unlock, let access control system manufacturers, integrators and dealers provide their customers with the simplest to use mobile access credentials in the market. The Conekt solution leverages the cloud to provide the easiest way to distribute mobile credentials with features that include allowing the user to register only once and respect user privacy by needing only the handset's phone number. Conekt needs no portal accounts, service agreements or activation features. By removing these and additional information disclosures, Conekt also addresses privacy concerns that have been slowing adoption of this technology."
The Auto-Unlock feature on the Conekt Wallet App is available immediately on the Apple App Store which will continue to operate securely behind the smart phone's PIN code and biometric defenses.
