Lancaster, Pennsylvania – August 15, 2014 — ECKey, the market leader in Smartphone Access Control Systems and Bluetooth Readers, today announced that it has added support for all Bluetooth phones including flip/feature phones, Blackberry® and Windows® phones to the company’s VIZpin cloud-based access control and visitor management service.
VIZpin can now be used with all Bluetooth phones. The VIZpin text feature allows you to receive secure, encrypted VIZpin electronic keys in a text message even if you don’t have an Android or iPhone. For added security, VIZpin electronic keys cannot be shared. Users can receive a VIZpin “text” electronic key by registering their phone at VIZpin.com. Once registered, the user sends a text to VIZpin and immediately receives a VIZpin electronic key that will activate the ECKey reader for which it was issued.
“VIZpin is a Security-as-a-Service (SaaS) product that allows you to remotely send, revoke and monitor VIZpin electronic keys without having expensive on-site hardware and networks. It is ideal for cost-sensitive applications with lots of locations that previously could only afford an off-line lock.” said Paul Bodell, President and CEO of ECKey.
“We have VIZpin systems installed at cell towers, schools, fast food restaurants and banks, representing a wide range of employees and visitors. Since more than 50% of the phones in use today are not iPhones or Androids, we quickly realized that you couldn’t predict what type of phones people are using. We didn’t want to force anyone to buy a new phone or purchase FOBs, so we added the VIZpin text feature, which works with 99% of the phones in use today.”
