Zurich, Switzerland – March 18, 2020 – LEGIC announces the launch of its SM-6300 Contactless Reader IC. The IC is targeted at corporate security and payment applications such as access control, time & attendance, virtual PC login, follow-me printing, coffee and vending, lockers and canteen payment systems.
Adaptable to a wide range of applications, the IC supports all popular smartcards as well as Apple/Android smartphones. The SM-6300 works seamlessly with LEGIC’s end-to-end Security Platform and is targeted at developers of applications requiring secure and autonomous user authentication, permissioning and usage monitoring. The IC is designed for 24/7 operation as well as battery-powered online/offline operation.

Based on RFID, NFC and Bluetooth communications from 2 cm up to 10 meters distance, LEGIC’s platform allows applications to manage who or what can use a device or resource, when, where and how based on a user’s centrally managed credentials. Closed-loop e-payment apps are also supported via the “LEGIC Cash” feature.
The SM-6300 is easily configured via mobile app and Bluetooth. The IC is UWB-ready and supports 128KB of user-defined code (“Custom Code”). Communication to peripheral functions such as displays, or sensors is supported via I2C or SPI. Features include EAL 5+ and FIPS 140-3 certified secure element, seamless operation with LEGIC’s ultra-secure Trusted Service for mobile, and support for BLE transparent mode for custom mobile services. The complete platform includes reader and smartcard ICs, key and authorization management tools as well as the software service LEGIC Connect consisting of the Trusted Service and Mobile SDK.
