Biometrics Companies Deliver Mug Shot System to N.J. State Police
ImageWare Systems, a developer of biometric, digital imaging and identification software solutions, and SAGEM Morpho, a biometrics company for corporate, government and law enforcement, announced an agreement to provide the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) with an integrated Livescan/Mug Shot solution across multiple precincts.
The initial project, valued at approximately $200,000, represents the first stage of a multi-phase project for expanding the Department's booking systems.
Under the terms of the agreement, SMI will provide the NJSP with a customized Livescan system by integrating ImageWare's image capture technology with its Livescan software. This integrated solution will enable NJSP to capture a variety of images, including digital mug shots, scars, marks and tattoos, as well as fingerprint from a single booking station, eliminating the need for multiple capture stations and redundant data entry.
The integrated Livescan system will also comply with NJSP's Standards for the Electronic Capture of Mug Shots, which is an adaptation of the National Institute of Standards and Technology's (NIST) "Best Practice Recommendation for the Capture of Mug Shots."
"We are very pleased to have the opportunity to be a part of the NJSP's booking system expansion," said Jim Miller, ImageWare's chairman and CEO. "Our image capture technology is widely recognized as among the best in the industry and we are proud to be integrating our technology with SMI's Livescan system, which will provide a seamless multi-biometric capture system that will improve NJSP's criminal booking process."
