Monitronics dealers get agreement to offer consumers Alarm.com technology

Monitronics, one of the top alarm installing and monitoring firms in the U.S., has reached an agreement with technology firm Alarm.com that allows Monitronics dealers to offer the Alarm.com wireless and web-enabled security technologies.

The Alarm.com technology gives residential alarm customers the ability to interface with their security system via the web, as well as PDA and cell phone interfaces that can provide alarm alerts and systems interaction. The technology can communicate wirelessly, and can also use an Internet connection, however neither a phone line or an Internet connection are required. The Alarm.com technology can tie in with GE Security's alarm technology, including Concord, Simon, Simon XT and NetworX products.

The agreement links over 800 security dealer firms for the technology marketing and service of these technologies.

This Monitronics-Alarm.com agreement links with the news that Monitronics is creating redundant IP and analog connections from its monitoring center to Alarm.com's network operations center. As part of the agreement, Monitronics' customer support staff will be trained on the AirFX troubleshooting utilities from Alarm.com, a web-based tool that allows remote troubleshooting of a customer's technology.

Jim Paulson, GE Security head of global marketing, called the alliance "a major endorsement of the best-of-breed technology and services that GE Security and Alarm.com are offering."
