Maryland Bill Would Add Registration for Dealers, Users

Washington County, Md., may soon be the newest county in the United States to require the registration of alarm system contractors.
The Maryland General Assembly is considering HB 906 on March 15, at 1 p.m. in the House Economic Matters Committee. The bill, if passed, would authorize Washington County -- located in western Maryland, just across the Potomac River from Harper's Ferry, Va. -- to implement regulations that would require alarm systems contractors and alarm users to be registered.
Besides allowing Washington County to register alarm installers ("alarm system contractors") and users, the bill would also give the county the authority to levy a fine schedule for false alarms.
