Company buys Central Alarm, Advanced Solutions

Protection 1, one of the largest commercial and home security companies in the U.S., announced two new acquisitions this week that will help expand the firm’s footprint.

Through the additions of Las Cruces, N.M.-based Central Alarm Inc. and Montgomery, Ala.-based Advanced Solutions Inc., the company said that it gain more than 2,000 accounts.

"While organic growth is our primary focus, we continue to look for acquisitions that provide not only a stable customer base, but additional technical capabilities," said Protection 1 CEO Timothy J. Whall in a statement. "For example, the Camtronics Security Integration acquisition completed back in March gave us additional video service capabilities in our offering for national accounts."

Dan Bresingham, the company’s CFO, said that there have been more opportunities for acquisitions as more small and medium-sized alarm company founders look to leave the industry or join up with a bigger firm. He added that Protection 1’s reputation for customer service has also given the company an edge when it comes to finding the right acquisitions.

"I decided to stay with Protection 1 because I liked what I saw, respected the way they think and treat their customers and wanted the opportunity to be part of something bigger," said Tony Pryor, the original owner of Central Alarm Company, who will remain with the company following the acquisition.
