The Gunshot Detector from Louroe Electronics uses audio detection to accurately classify gunshots from a large variation of weapons, including the most powerful weapons that active shooters use, according to the FBI study “Active Shooter Events from 2000 to 2012.” The Gunshot Detector algorithm was trained with thousands of gunshot recordings from firearms including handguns, shotguns, rifles and automatic rifles. When used together with Louroe’s A-ML microphone, the detector is able to detect gun discharge up to 3,000 feet in quiet environments. Within seconds of a gunshot, the software informs staff of the event. Security staff can then assess and manage the situation remotely so in case of an incident the police can respond much quicker.
