Inovonics sponsors panel discussion on K-12 school security at ISC West 2014
LOUSIVILLE, Colo., March 13, 2014 – Inovonics, a leading provider of enterprise life safety and specialized commercial wireless systems, today announced it is sponsoring a panel entitled, “Beyond School Shootings: Everyday Violence in K-12 Schools and Methods for Prevention,” on Wednesday, April 2 from 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. at ISC West 2014 in Las Vegas, NV. Expert panelists will offer a variety of perspectives and real-world insights regarding everyday school violence and offer suggested methodologies for helping avert safety risks in K-12 schools.

The panel is designed to educate the audience on how to identify and help avert everyday school issues surrounding and leading up to violence. Panelists will explore the contributing factors, such as the impact of bullying on youth and the consequences when warning signs are left unchecked. They will address common parental and educator concerns and provide valuable information on how to help prevent school violence before it starts. The experts will share insights into the mindset behind school violence and the current culture of schools from an administrative perspective. Panelists also will detail key security measures that go beyond lockdowns and alarms, to newer solutions that help increase school safety, such as Enterprise Mobile Duress (EMD) systems (i.e., people protection tools) and other effective methods and technologies available on the market today. The discussion will provide dealers and integrators with practical tips on ways to outfit schools with the proper security systems, insights on the culture of schools today, and factors that contribute to school violence so they can better serve K-12 schools.
Panelists include a variety of experts, including a best-selling author of books about school violence and bullying; an award-winning school security director; and, an ex-school board member president. The editor of a national campus security magazine will serve as the moderator.
