Kidde Launches New Remote Releasing Module for ARIES Intelligent Control Unit
ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 28, 2006 — Kidde Fire Systems announced today the launch of the SmartOne Remote Releasing Module (RRM) that, when used with the ARIES Intelligent System Control Unit, enables the remote activation of fire extinguishing systems. Kidde Fire Systems, a worldwide leader in the development of fire detection and suppression systems, is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp.
The ARIES is a compact, full-featured control unit that manages fire response from detection to alarm and suppression system release. Its signaling line circuit supports up to 255 addressable devices.
"The RRM is ideal for expanding the system capabilities of the ARIES unit," said Diana Jones, product manager of Intelligent Systems, Kidde Fire Systems. "When compared with competitive products, the new RRM also has a lower cost per release zone, so it provides both added protection and value."
The RRM provides internal supervision of communication with the ARIES Control Unit, connections to an external power supply and comprehensive system memory maintenance. The system is widely used in power generation plants, medical facilities, control rooms, and other facilities that require monitoring of sensitive spaces. In power generation stations, multiple RRMs, in conjunction with the ARIES, can protect cable trays/vaults, conveyor belts/tunnels, transformers, generators, fuel handling, and other valuable assets.
RMM Features - The ARIES signaling line supports up to 64 RRMs - Up to 16 RRMs can be configured for simultaneous group activation, with as many as four groups - Supports FM-200, FE-13, CO2, Argonite and foam, foam-water, deluge and pre-action sprinkler systems - Triple-R protection against inadvertent extinguishing system activation - Versatile mounting configurations - Five year warranty - UL Listed, FM Approved
