NORTHFORD, Conn., September 26, 2012 - Gamewell-FCI by Honeywell now offers a Conventional Agent Release Control Panel (Flex GR506R) that can provide powerful fire protection, while simultaneously controlling the release of one or two fire suppression agents. The Flex GR506R panel is compatible with nearly 40 releasing control devices for as many as 12 sprinkler and fire suppression agents, and is currently one of only two UL-Listed releasing systems for the new aerosol suppression agents growing in popularity since the NFPA’s (National Fire Protection Association) introduction of its 2010 Standard for Fixed Aerosol Fire-Extinguishing Systems.
Aerosol fire suppression agents are designed to quickly extinguish a fire with minimal effect on equipment and other property contents, plus no long-term negative effects on human health or the environment. These unique benefits, coupled with the NFPA 2010 standard outlining the requirements for the design, installation, operation, testing and maintenance of aerosol fire-extinguishing systems, have caused a wide variety of facilities from high-value and high-hazard applications to buildings with simple server rooms or paint booths to request this new suppression technology, explains Gamewell-FCI Vice President of Sales, Steve Birdsall.
“Customers have been requesting a control panel that can tie into more third-party vendors’ suppression systems, but demands for compatibility with aerosol systems have led the pack,” Weaver says. “Getting the UL listing on this panel was huge, because nearly all approving authorities require it. And before us [Gamewell-FCI], there was only one other UL-approved option on the market.”
In addition to fire detection and signaling, plus suppression system monitoring and release, the Flex GF506R Agent Release Control Panel transmits trouble signals when connected detectors require cleaning – a common need in many applications where this control panel is used. The GF506R also monitors the ambient temperature of the protected space, sending a supervisory signal when it falls below its compatible detectors' ratings of approximately 45°F. More robust protection against circuitry damage caused by transient voltage was also included as part of this panel’s new version.
