Verint continues to expand security intelligence solutions for education
ATLANTA and MELVILLE, N.Y., September 30, 2014 — Verint® Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: VRNT) today announced an expansion of its comprehensive situation management platform to help higher education environments improve public safety through enhanced security and communications. Recent technology advancements with Verint certified partners AMAG Technology and NowForce provide enhanced capabilities for educational institutions.
Recent events, including assaults, shootings and bullying, have reinforced the need for robust security programs at campuses across the globe. Administrators and education leaders must provide safe and secure campuses for the growing number of student and staff populations, as well as local residents, while maintaining an open approach to facilitating a productive learning environment.
Today’s educational institutions invest a significant amount in technology. Yet, having a variety of solutions can make it difficult to gain a complete and comprehensive view of their security environments. When multiple systems are integrated into a single platform, security officials can gain the most benefit from their technology investments.
Verint Situation Management Center™ is designed to integrate existing security and safety systems—such as computer-aided dispatch, mass notification, crowdsourcing, access control and video surveillance—and enable a multi-modal command approach to address the security needs of large and small campuses. It empowers users by identifying the correct processes for rapid response and incident reconstruction to help ensure compliance with regulations, such as the Clery Act.
“Verint Situation Management Center helps campuses maximize their security technology investments by integrating disparate assets into one seamless infrastructure for a complete view,” says Steve Weller, senior vice president and general manager, Verint Video and Situation Intelligence Solutions™. “The Verint platform is designed to deliver an unmatched level of intelligence to help higher education institutions improve visibility and real-time monitoring, enable rapid response to incidents and build an increasingly proactive approach to safety.”
Verint Situation Management Center is based on an open system architecture to boost security and business intelligence through the deployment of best-in-class technologies. Working together with long-standing access control partner, AMAG Technology, Verint has increased focus on the education market by completing a new integration with the AMAG Symmetry Access Control Software to enable faster, more efficient alarm handling and enhanced usability. The partnership was driven by customer demand for a heightened situation management solution through the use of industry-leading technologies and the correlation of multiple data streams.
In addition, Verint recently expanded its mobile reporting and response offerings for campus environments by adding emergency response capabilities from NowForce, a partner since March 2013, to its Situation Management Center solution. The combination of NowForce and Verint Situation Management Center provides security organizations with an additional layer of situation intelligence, while enhancing real-time incident management, field communication and force management. The rapid incident handling is driven by the synchronization of multiple data points, including 9-1-1, emergency phone calls or text messages, into a single case file.
The Verint and NowForce solution enables students and staff on campus to anonymously report suspicious activity via mobile reporting, which empowers and encourages users to take an active role in enhancing campus security. Via their mobile devices, each person on campus can act as a roving visual and text data sensor, extending the overall reach of security intelligence and making campuses smarter and safer through actionable intelligence. After an incident or suspicious activity is reported, dispatch can then send the most appropriate responders precise location data and real-time information on situations as they unfold.
