Year after year our editors have carved a well-worn path to Las Vegas for various security industry trade shows, and this year started no differently. Security Business magazine Editor-in-Chief Paul Rothman was the only security media person present to cover CES 2024.
He made the most of his time, filming 20 quick-hitting videos with industry movers and shakers and leading exhibitors that were showcasing technology innovations and concepts. He also hit on security-related startup companies that will make the market even more competitive.
One of the highlights was Paul scoring an interview with the pioneer of WiFi, Cees Links, about SuperLight Photonics, a leading innovator in laser technology based in The Netherlands. The company specializes in developing supercontinuum generation lasers, also known as wideband lasers or white lasers.
Paul also talked at length with veteran security consultant Pierre Bourgeix, CEO and founder of ESI Convergent and CEO of Elevated Sale, about his take on the innovations on display at CES and their import for the security industry. Bourgeix aptly summed up why we continue to cover CES to bring the latest technology innovations to our readers.
“Being here at the CES show really shows, clearly, that our security industry needs to be aware of what is happening outside our incubator, our wonderful world of security,” Bourgeix says.
“Technology is moving towards us at a rapid pace. But now more than ever, those involved in technology must come to shows like this to get awareness of other areas of the world where technology is now breeding -- France, Israel, wherever it is. This show really shows a lot of what we need to know to be prepared for the future. “
