The Medical Alert Monitoring Association (MAMA) 2021 Annual Conference has converted to an all-digital format due to concerns regarding COVID-19 and the increase in Delta variant cases.
A letter sent by MAMA President Daniel Oppenheim of Affiliated Monitoring confirmed that the conference would cancel its in-person element, which was scheduled in Chicago.
"There is continued uncertainty surrounding the uptick in COVID cases and the Delta variant's trajectory nationwide," Oppenheim's letter reads. "In light of our current national reality and hearing the concern from members and vital sponsors of our association, the Board has voted to transition to an all-virtual format...After candid and thoughtful discussions, we believe that this decision is a prudent one for the health and safety of us all."
MAMA is the only professional trade association representing the needs of the medical alert monitoring and personal emergency response services industry. The MAMA Conference, which connects medical alert industry participants, thought leaders, financial partners, lenders and intermediaries to explore the present and future of the PERS industry, will take place Sept. 28-29 in the all-virtual format.
