Brooklyn Law School hosts “Dorking” event exploring the dangers and legality of search engine hacking
Brooklyn, NY - The Brooklyn Law School Clinic is pleased to announce the upcoming event "Go Dork Yourself," to be held on April 19th, 2023. This event will take place both in person and virtually at the Brooklyn Law School campus, located at 250 Joralemon Street, Brooklyn, NY.
The event is being hosted by the Brooklyn Law Incubator & Policy Clinic team led by Star Kashman, a student in her third year of law school. Kashman's article titled "Google Dorking or Legal Hacking: Fromthe CIA Compromise to Your Cameras at Home, We Are Not as Safe as We Think" was published last month, and its groundbreaking discoveries inspired the event. The legality of the advanced search technique commonly known as "Google Dorking" has become a subject of increasing importance, as cybersecurity law does not explicitly address it. While this technique can be used for legitimate purposes such as research, it can also be used for criminal acts, including cyberterrorism, industrial espionage, identity theft, and cyberstalking.
The “Go Dork Yourself” event will bring together experts in hacking, cybersecurity, and law to share their insight into this fascinating discovery for the legal field. Attendees will learn about the latest developments in the legal landscape of cybersecurity, as well as how to protect themselves against cyber attacks.
"We are thrilled to be hosting an event that will explore the legal implications of Search Engine Hacking," said Star Kashman. "This technique is incredibly powerful, and it is essential that we understand how it can be used legally and illegally. We hope that this event will be a valuable resource for anyone interested in cybersecurity and the law."
The event will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, and networking opportunities for attendees. It is open to the public, and anyone interested in attending can register on the event website through this link.
