ARES Security Corporation receives DOE accreditation for its AVERT software
Washington, DC - ARES Security Corporation (ASC) has received accreditation from the US Department of Energy (DOE) for their Automated Vulnerability Evaluation for Risks of Terrorism (AVERT) software. This significant milestone has been achieved after a comprehensive verification, validation and accreditation process that was conducted by the DOE in conjunction with the Department of Defense, Defense Threat Reduction Agency. AVERT is now the only commercial software dedicated to the simulation, modeling, assessment and optimization of physical security systems for critical infrastructure such as nuclear power plants that has gone through the rigors of DOE and DOD verification, validation and accreditation process and has also achieved the Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act certification.
The AVERT software is used to assess the physical security of 65% of North America’s nuclear reactors against a terrorist or insider threat. AVERT’s advance modeling and simulation capabilities are used to validate the effectiveness of security configurations against modern threats and evaluate future security system investments and modifications. The AVERT software has been accredited to accurately characterize critical infrastructure and provide for a dynamic analysis of pathways that can be used by a threat to reach an objective and by security forces to neutralize the adversaries attack. Recent developments have extended this capability to include advanced behaviors for combat simulation, sniper fire, advanced breaching and many other attack / response scenarios that capture the detailed reality of threats to critical infrastructure. Supporting ASC’s capabilities is a powerful advanced behavior engine that can be configured by users or site personnel who are not programmers to easily analyze evolving site-specific scenarios and threat conditions. These advanced behavior enhancements directly benefit our DOE and DOD customers who need precision modeling to support critical security decisions.
John Halsema, Chief Technology Officer of ASC, stated, “We take the job of protecting the world’s most critical infrastructure very seriously. The rigor of the verification, validation and accreditation process confirms to our customers that they can rely on the AVERT software to provide reliable and accurate results in safeguarding their critical assets.”
