The International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) announced this week that it is partnering with ASIS International to bring healthcare-focused educational sessions to the 59th Annual ASIS Seminar and Exhibits, which will be held Sept. 24-27 in Chicago.
In a statement, ASIS President Geoffrey T. Craighead said that the IAHSS would work in conjunction with the ASIS Healthcare Council to develop and co-sponsor these sessions at the seminar.
"We recognize that each of our organizations has value to bring to our membership, and we can leverage that by lending support to practitioners, expanding knowledge and skills, and providing enhanced networking opportunities," he said. "Hopefully, it’s the start of a continuing relationship."
In addition, the IAHSS will offer training and exams for its CHPA (Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator) certification prior to the seminar and both organizations will mutually promote each other’s conferences and association to their respective members. The IAHSS will also have a booth at the seminar.
"This partnership is a win-win for both memberships. It shows we’re being recognized as the leading source for healthcare security and are being given the opportunity to make ASIS members aware of what we have to offer," said IAHSS Executive Director Evelyn Meserve. "We’re two large security organizations partnering to bring the best educational programs possible to members of the security profession. We can share our strengths with each other."
