The International Healthcare Security & Safety Foundation (IHSSFoundation), the non-profit arm of the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS), recently announced that Steve Nibbelink has been appointed as its new president beginning on Jan. 1, 2014.
Nibbelink succeeds current president Ed Stedman who has served in the position for nearly six years.
“The honor of receiving the appointment and the privilege of serving our foundation is fantastic,” said Nibbelink. “I will try my very best to live up to the standard of care and passion that Ed Stedman has brought to the job every day [since its inception],” he added.
“It may come down to directing at times, but we [the IHSSFoundation] need a leader — someone who can get things done, someone who can influence the entire non-profit board and get everyone going in one direction and do it well,” said Stedman. “I think Steve fits the bill in that regard."
Nibbelink has been in the security industry for 27 years, working in a variety of sales, marketing, management and leadership capacities. He currently serves as global director of healthcare security and RTLS (real time location services) at Schneider Electric, where he has worked since 2005. Nibbelink earned his CHPA in 2009 and was awarded the Elwood Near Presidential Award for his contributions in healthcare and security by the IAHSS in 2011.
“Our foundation is a tremendous resource to healthcare security and safety leaders,” said Nibbelink. “Continuing to grow financially and provide valuable and practical resources are our basic concerns as we seek to reach and serve more healthcare leaders,” he explained.
