Event Updates Progress
Much has changed in the seven months since Steve Roth, president, took over the helm at Tri-Ed Distribution. Once an under-utilized asset of Tyco, Tri-Ed is now seeing growth and expansion on all fronts, according to Roth, who addressed the media at ISC East in New York City, NY.

Plans that were announced at the time of acquisition are being executed. “We’re creating a culture of strong customer support and vendor loyalty,” Roth reports.

Part and parcel of that plan is the expansion of Tri-Ed’s U.S. footprint. Several new branch locations have opened up in key regions over recent months. Among them are Boston, Buffalo, San Antonio, New Orleans and Kansas City. The ink has been put on two additional leases, making way for new southeastern and midwestern locations. Top level people are on board at both the branch and regional level. On the corporate side, strong finance, sales and marketing and IT teams now drive the business from its new Woodbury, NY U.S. headquarters.

A seven-figure investment has been made to put a new IT system in place and has been done in conjunction with a major supplier of wholesale distribution software.

“None of this existed in January,” Roth points out. “Now, we are focused, have a clear direction, and look toward the future with confidence. Although Tri-Ed is a work in progress, we have a real value proposition to offer.”

Competition is very healthy for this industry, according to Roth. “We’re striving to fill the role of a healthy #2, a strong competitor with a significant footprint, significant product offerings, and a super efficient infrastructure,” he notes. We can be truly independent and add a healthy level of competitiveness to the landscape.”
