SuperClick Selects Ruckus Wireless Smart Wireless LAN Systems for Hotels Throughout North America
SUNNYVALE , Calif., Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Ruckus Wireless announced today that SuperClick, a technology leader in IP infrastructure management solutions to the hospitality industry, has selected Ruckus Wireless Smart Wi-Fi products and technology.
SuperClick, which provides and manages Internet access infrastructure for more than 600 hotels and over 110,000 rooms throughout North America , will use the Ruckus Wireless ZoneFlex Smart Wireless LAN (WLAN) system to replace under-performing wireless networks already installed, as well as for new Wi-Fi installations within select hotels.
According to SuperClick President and CEO Sandro Natale, SuperClick selected Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi because it offers many benefits that higher-end systems can't match, including: fewer access points that deliver better coverage and performance; reliable signal propagation; centralized network, configuration and security management; plug-and-play installation and deployment; and wireless meshing that allows for access point placement in hard-to-reach areas with no additional wiring or cabling.
SuperClick is recognized in the hospitality industry for the unique combination of its high-performance broadband access gateways, management platform and professional services, including on-site training and support. Through its proprietary SIMS(TM) management platform, SuperClick is able to monitor and administer thousands of devices in each hotel - including mini bars, TVs, phones, security cameras and other IP-based devices.
"The number one complaint hotels hear from guests is that Wi-Fi connectivity is terrible," said Natale. "Amidst huge demand for wireless access, mid-sized hotels, in particular, are struggling to deliver a Wi-Fi system that is both cost-effective and reliable. Most systems can't scale to provide service to every square inch of space without deploying an inordinate number of access points. Ruckus solves this problem, giving hotels an ideal way to blanket the entire property with solid, stable Wi-Fi connectivity using fewer access points."
SuperClick has already begun installing Ruckus ZoneFlex wireless LAN systems in hotels in the U.S. and Canada such as Westmont Hospitality's Staybridge Suites in Toronto .
Fewer Access Points That Deliver Better Coverage and Reliability Set New Wi-Fi Price/Performance Standard for Hotel Industry
According to Natale, the Ruckus ZoneFlex system has set a new industry standard for Wi-Fi price/performance. This is because fewer Ruckus access points are required to cover any given property. For instance, in a 125-room property, Natale points out that only six to 10 Ruckus ZoneFlex access points are typically needed to provide full coverage - even in outdoor areas like pools and cafes - with an average cost of less than eight cents per square foot. "This is an unmatched value in the industry," he said.
"The combination of superior performance, central management and wireless meshing for hard-to-reach areas make Ruckus the new best choice for Wi-Fi in hotels," he explained.
What's more, by upgrading their infrastructures to the Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi system, SuperClick's hotel clients can deliver a richer, uninterrupted online experience from anywhere on hotel property to their guests. Furthermore, they can leverage the network for next-generation IP-based services, such as high definition IPTV, voice over Wi-Fi, security surveillance and inter-employee communications.
Wireless Meshing Extends Wi-Fi Where Wires Can't Go
Ruckus Wireless Lite Mesh Gateways (LMG) extend Wi-Fi connectivity to places where running Ethernet cables isn't possible. The Ruckus LMG functions as a single-hop, long-range wireless bridge, acting as both a client receiving the hotel's Wi-Fi signal and as an access point to transmit the signal throughout the surrounding area. The Ruckus Lite Mesh Gateway can be placed anywhere and requires only power to operate.
Security, Network and Configuration Management in a Click
SuperClick is using Ruckus ZoneFlex 2942 802.11b/g access points combined with the ZoneDirector central management console for complete plug-and-play installation and configuration. Each ZoneFlex access point is built with Ruckus' patented beamsteering technology, a smart antenna array that steers Wi-Fi signals around interference and toward the user in real time to provide consistent performance and extended range.
"Being able to rely on fewer access points to provide coverage to a larger area than would be possible with other systems is another strong advantage Ruckus brings to the table -- from both a cost and systems management perspective," said Natale.
The Ruckus ZoneDirector acts as a central point of configuration, management, administration and security for all Ruckus ZoneFlex access points. The Ruckus ZoneDirector gives hotel IT staff complete visibility into their property's Wi-Fi environment such as the number of users, bandwidth usage and signal strength of each access point at any given time, as well as the ability to detect rogue access points and pinpoint where failures occur. It also lets IT personnel set user rate limits over each SSID and block access to unauthorized users.
With ZoneDirector, hotels can configure their networks to support multiple SSIDs and create disparate networks based on user or device type. Additionally, with Ruckus' guest pass feature, hotels can easily create time- limited access passes that can be given to guests upon check-in.
"The Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi system is a great asset to Superclick's business and customers," said Natale. "It's a great way for us to save clients a lot of money while setting them up with a next-generation wireless network that will keep their guests coming back again and again."
