Cybele K. Daley Joins Van Scoyoc Associates

WASHINGTON, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- H. Stewart (Stu) Van Scoyoc, president of Van Scoyoc Associates, announced today that Cybele K. Daley has joined the firm as a vice president.

Daley has worked in Washington for almost 20 years, with about half of that time in positions of increasing responsibility at the U.S. Department of Justice. Her work there culminated in a 2007 assignment as acting assistant attorney general over the Office of Justice Programs and its $2 billion budget. Before, she was principal deputy assistant attorney general, deputy assistant attorney general, special assistant to the assistant attorney general for legislative affairs, and chief of the U.S. Marshals Service Office of Congressional Affairs.

Her experience at Justice spanned management, policy development, congressional liaison, and internal and external communications, and she regularly advised senior department officials, including the attorney general. Daley specializes in intellectual property rights enforcement, computer crime, critical infrastructure protection, cyber security, economic espionage, electronic surveillance technology, and the appropriations process, among others.

At the U.S. Treasury Department, Daley worked two years as a policy advisor to the undersecretary in the Office of Enforcement, preparing testimony, analyzing and reviewing proposed legislation, and responding to congressional inquiries and proposals. She served on the staff of the Senate Appropriations Committee for another two years, preparing appropriations bills and reports for the Subcommittee on the Postal Service and General Government.

Daley earned her bachelor's of science in political science at the University of Arizona, Tucson . Among her important honors are the Attorney General's Distinguished Service Award (2002), and the Director of the Marshals Service Special Achievement Award (1998).
