GE Security is trading lone stars for manatees.

Florida Governor Jeb Bush said today that GE Infrastructure, Security will be moving its headquarters from Austin, Texas, and making its home in Bradenton, Fla., in Manatee County.

The announcement was made during the signing of the state's 2005 budget in Tallahassee, and was attended by county and state economic development leaders.

The move means the addition of 70 high-paying jobs to the county (salary averages would be higher than $125,000), and the company will be taking space at Edwards Systems Technology's building in Lakewood Ranch. The staff at Edwards, which was acquired in March 2005, will also be in the building.

According to the Economic Development Council of Manatee County, GE as a whole already has 6,000 of its jobs in Florida.
