Frisco, TX -- Dave Simon of Brinks Home Security has been named chairman of the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) Public Relations Committee. SIAC is a central resource for the alarm industry, law enforcement, and government agencies on alarm management issues.
"We are excited to have Dave's leadership and invaluable experience as part of the SIAC team," said Stan Martin, SIAC's Executive Director. "It is critical that SIAC communicate effectively with the industry, communities, and government agencies. He will have an immediate impact on our public relations and communications program." Simon takes over the role of chairman from David Gottlieb of Honeywell Security who will continue to serve on the committee.
"David Gottlieb did an excellent job in creating and guiding our communication programs; his leadership has had a positive impact on SIAC," said Martin. "David helped us during a very critical time and guided us through the development of our brochure, the hiring of a new public relations firm, our advertising development program, campaign management material, and many more projects".
Simon joined Brinks Home Security in June, 2004 as Senior Manager of Industry and Public Relations. In that capacity he is a spokesperson to the media, manages alarm ordinance communications, and works closely with the industry and local government agencies to ensure Brinks and industry issues are clearly communicated.
A communications veteran with more than 20 years experience, Simon began his career as a reporter and editor in Washington, D.C., covering environmental issues in Congress and the Environmental Protection Agency before moving to the U.S. Department of Energy as a speech writer and communications specialist. Prior to joining Brinks Home Security, Simon spent eight years within the electric utility industry as a media spokesperson and regional manager of communications.
