Vismo has expanded its satellite-based offerings for customer employee safety with the Garmin inReach Messenger. The compact, rugged satellite communicator provides two-way messaging and interactive SOS capabilities—and now, thanks to the Vismo Locate & Protect App, a wider range of features to help safeguard employees in challenging and remote locations.

The features, enabled by integrating the Garmin device with Vismo’s back-end operations, include panic alert, geo-fencing, mass notification, and enhanced tracking. Ensuring constant connectivity and reliable communication, the Vismo-Garmin inReach Messenger approach to heightened safety extends to where there is poor or no network/cellular coverage.

Intelligence streams

“Users of the Garmin inReach Messenger can use it just like a smartphone to make the most of all we jointly offer,” says Vismo Director of Global Sales, Colin Dale. “That includes receiving information in real time from intelligence streams about actual or expected risk to life and limb and advice on how to stay safe.

“And users can contact security teams any time in the 24/7 cycle to seek help over any danger-to-life or wellbeing issue that concerns them,” Dale adds. “Vismo even links users with public and private emergency services and evacuation providers, if needed, to provide the highest possible level of support.”

Smart connectivity

The Vismo-Garmin inReach Messenger offering includes smart connectivity, enabling users to switch seamlessly between Wi-Fi, mobile, and satellite networks to optimize communication and reduce costs where possible. Use of satellite networks—for which a Vismo satellite subscription is required—provides dependable device performance, overriding weak or black spots in smartphone networks.

Additionally, Vismo combines GPS location services with its patented algorithms to increase location accuracy and extend battery life by up to 28 days when in tracking mode. Vismo also enables additional safety charging for smartphones.

Garmin inReach Messenger’s water rating of IPX7 means the device can, for example, be submerged for up to 30 minutes in water up to one meter deep and remain operable.

ACR Bivy Stick

Garmin inReach Messenger joins the ACR Bivy Stick at Vismo in using satellite technology and Vismo’s technology to help ensure employee safety. The stick transforms smartphones into a global satellite communicator via Bluetooth to give enhanced safety and connectivity via the Iridium satellite network or can be used standalone.

Like the Garmin inReach Messenger, the ACR Bivy Stick ensures comprehensive communication coverage—and operational reliability—in the most remote locations and includes panic alert functionality along with the other features of the Vismo Locate & Protect App.

Vismo satellite device-based solutions give private and public organizations and NGOs proactive risk management and centralized monitoring of employee safety and emergency readiness, including rapid response capabilities, with users knowing support is always available.
