ADT has announced that Don Young, the company’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, will retire effective June 6, according to a recent SEC filing dated March 6.
Young, a highly respected figure in the security industry, has had a distinguished career spanning over three decades, beginning in 1988 after serving four years in the United States Air Force as a computer programmer analyst.
He has held various leadership positions, including roles at SecurityLink, ASG Security, HSM, Stanley Security Solutions and Protection 1, where he served as chief information officer and chief operating officer. His contributions include developing the “Scorecard,” a real-time reconciliation tool for recurring monthly revenue, and leveraging technology to enhance operational efficiencies and customer experience.
Beyond his corporate roles, Young has been actively involved in industry associations. He served as the 35th president of The Monitoring Association (TMA) from 2019 to 2021, bringing a broad spectrum of knowledge and expertise to the organization. In 2022, he received TMA’s Stanley C. Lott Memorial Award, recognizing his significant contributions to the security industry over the years.
Following his retirement, Young will transition into a special advisory role to assist with the leadership transition. ADT has not yet announced a successor for Young's position.
