ASIS posted a notice on LinkedIn this week warning of a firm that is offering to help security professionals pass certification exams but is actually a scam.
ASIS identified the company as “Pass Your Cert,” which in its messaging is offering to have “other individuals take the exam for you” through WhatsApp messages, the organization says.
“This is a scam that is unequivocally unethical and will not be tolerated by ASIS,” the organization said in the social media post. “If an ASIS exam candidate is found to have utilized a testing service such as this, your certification is subject to revocation.”
ASIS warned that those who share personal information about certification on their social media channels could have that information used in “nefarious ways.”
The organization advised those who are certified against posting their letter with their test scores on social media. ASIS said it created a digital badge system so individuals could identify and promote their ASIS certifications publicly.
A screenshot posted in discussion about the post indicated the allegedly fraudulent firm was reported to ASIS last June, but it’s unclear if the claim was investigated or action was taken. As of Thursday there was no announcement on ASIS’ website about the scam.
