Arrow Electronics, a global provider of electronic components and enterprise computing solutions to industrial and commercial users, announced it will be discontinuing the sale of Seneca Data-branded products this year.

Arrow Electronics, a global provider of electronic components and enterprise computing solutions to industrial and commercial users, announced it will be discontinuing the sale of Seneca Data-branded products this year.

In a letter sent to customers Tuesday provided to SecurityInfoWatch, Arrow Vice President of Sales Tonya Roach thanked Seneca customers for their support but said Arrow had decided to “exit the sale of Seneca-branded products. We thank you for your business and support over the past decade.”

Customers will be able to purchase Seneca products through March 29 and all existing purchase orders would be honored. All in-warranty products will continue to be supported by Arrow for the duration of the warranty period.

Any remaining inventory after the last-time buy date will be available for sale on a first-come, first-serve basis, Arrow said.

In business for more than 45 years, Seneca’s products were specifically designed and manufactured for the needs of the security, visual media and enterprise solutions market spaces.

Arrow, a Fortune 150 company based with18,500 employees worldwide, bought Seneca in 2014. Production was moved in phases to Arizona and engineering and tech-lab employees remained in Syracuse, N.Y.

Arrow announced in 2017 it had expanded its security and video surveillance product offerings further, offering Dell EMC OEM security and video surveillance products in addition to its Seneca-branded products.

At the time, Arrow emphasized that customers would have access to an expanded line of products, while still receiving “the simple, out-of-the-box experience, as well as pre- and post-order sales support, rapid response time and optimized performance for which Seneca is known.”

While Arrow is exiting the “Seneca-branded product” business, the company noted Wednesday it will still have a strong business in the security vertical and it plans to continue to expand in that area with its current partner/supplier solutions.
