As we start the new year, I am filled with excitement and optimism about the opportunities that lie ahead for the electronic security and AV industries.
The global security and AV landscape is evolving at an unprecedented pace, driven by advancements in technology and an increasing focus on integrated, intelligent solutions and business mergers and acquisitions. As we look toward this new year, these trends will continue to shape our industries, presenting both opportunities and challenges.
The transition to cloud-based systems, the integration of artificial intelligence, and the rise of edge computing are reshaping how we think about access control, video surveillance, and AV. The ability to adapt to these changes will be critical. Businesses that embrace this wave of innovation will not only meet the expectations of today’s customers but also position themselves as leaders in a highly competitive market.
Embracing Innovation in Security and AV
As we look ahead, the convergence of security and AV technologies presents an incredible opportunity, one I have been eagerly nurturing as CEO of The PSA Network, a security collective, and our AV division, Edge.
The integration of cloud-based systems, artificial intelligence, and IoT continues to redefine how we approach both safety and communication. Smart buildings, enhanced collaboration tools, and unified security platforms are no longer aspirations – they are becoming industry standards.
Our AV division has made impressive strides, supporting members with solutions that enable dynamic, interactive environments for education, corporate, and public spaces. By aligning AV and security technologies, our members are delivering comprehensive solutions that meet the evolving needs of modern organizations.
Investing in People and Knowledge for the Future
Education remains a cornerstone of industry success. In 2024, we expanded our learning management system, PSA University, offerings to include new certifications and cross-disciplinary training programs that bridge security and AV expertise. These initiatives empower professionals to stay competitive in a fast-changing landscape and ensure that their teams are equipped with the skills to lead through 2025 and beyond.
Collaboration has always been at the heart of our success. In 2024, we focused on the power of working together – whether through PSA TEC, ISC security events, or PSA Committees – to strengthen our collective impact through partnerships, shared insights, and collective action.
As we settle into 2025, the need for collaboration is greater than ever. By fostering deeper connections between security and AV professionals, we can unlock new opportunities and redefine what’s possible for our industries.
With global demand for integrated solutions expected to grow steadily, the outlook for the electronic security and AV markets is bright. By continuing to embrace innovation, invest in people, and collaborate across disciplines, the industry can achieve extraordinary things together.
