Industry Celebrates National Security Technician Day

Jan. 24, 2024
Second annual event a rousing success

The Foundation for Advancing Security Talent (FAST) reported success and overwhelming support for the second annual National Security Technician Day across the industry on Jan. 23. “It is important to highlight the pivotal role these professionals play in maintaining our safety and security,” the organization said in a statement. “The vibrant participation from companies, individuals, and industry associations has truly exemplified the spirit of this event.”

Social media channels buzzed with activity as companies shared stories of their technicians using the hashtag #NationalSecurityTechnicianDay. From heartwarming video tributes to discussions featuring industry leaders, the day was marked by a shared appreciation for the work technicians do.

A live-stream event, a cornerstone of this year’s celebrations, brought together company leaders and Don Erickson, CEO of the Security Industry Association (SIA), to discussed the significance of recognizing the hard work of technicians and the impact of this recognition on industry standards and employee morale.

“We witnessed companies going above and beyond, with on-site celebrations, company-wide shoutouts, and well-deserved recognition for their technicians. Special mentions to the companies who hosted events, provided training opportunities, and offered rewards to their hardworking technicians.”

LOUD Security Systems hosted festivities at its offices in Kennesaw, Ga. Its warehouse was transformed for the occasion with large banners hanging from the walls and rafters, each displaying a 5-star Google Review of one of LOUD’s technicians. The day included a parade of oversized ‘fatheads’ of the technicians, followed by talks from local public safety leaders and a large breakfast.

“We look forward to celebrating this day each year, and the recognition it brings to the security industry’s importance and impact to safety in our community,” Loud said.
