The Security Industry Association (SIA) has announced the 2021 agenda and speaker lineup for Securing New Ground (SNG), the security industry’s executive conference, taking place on Oct. 28 as a virtual event. At SNG 2021, the security industry will gather for top-quality information sharing, networking and business analysis.

This year’s Securing New Ground conference will drive industry trends and offer opportunities to connect directly with the leaders who are setting the tone for the future of security. The virtual program will explore the most current issues like cybersecurity and the health care supply chain and securing smart buildings, share chief information officer and chief technology officer perspectives on the technology horizon, share investment insights for the security industry and drive new connections through engaging virtual roundtable discussions.

One of the highlighted end-user sessions will feature senior security and business executives from major industries sharing perspectives on the significant security risks and threats in their sectors and how they’re mitigating those concerns while keeping an eye on future risks, and how they are aligning security with operational excellence.

That session, Expect the Unexpected: Security Leaders Speak (12:15 pm–12:45 pm EST) will feature

Megan Atkins Thoben, A.A.E., the Director of Operations and Business Development at Louisville Regional Airport Authority and Bonnie Michelman, the Executive Director of Police, Security and Outside Services for Massachusetts General Hospital. Thoben represents one of the three winning submissions in the 2021 Vanguard Awards, sponsored by SecurityInfoWatch.com,Security Business and Security Technology Executive (STE) magazines, in coordination with the Security Industry Association (SIA), honoring the industry’s most innovative and collaborative security projects. The coveted accolade recognizes the most impressive integrated technology and solutions project of the previous year – highlighting the lead technology vendors, systems integrator, consultant and end-user client. The three winning submissions will be featured in the November issue of Security Business and the November/December issue of STE.

Thoben will discuss the expansive security and operations center upgrades and build-outs at the Louisville airport. The new $18.5 million facility is the epicenter of operations for communications, security and training and is part of SDF Next, a $400 million modernization program for the rapidly growing airport that is home to UPS Worldport that moves millions of tons of product each year, making it the third busiest cargo airport in North America and fifth in the world.

A key theme of the 2021 SNG program is cybersecurity, and for the first time, the conference will feature a Cybersecurity Town Hall hosted by SIA’s Cybersecurity Advisory Board. Other highlights will include the popular View From the Top executive panel, in-depth “SNG Conversations” with business leaders and an opportunity to share input on the implications of major consumer and tech developments and help shape SIA’s 2022 Security Megatrends.

This event is free for security practitioners, including security managers, chief security officers and security directors. Industry registration starts at $149; learn more and register to attend here.
