AFI releases whitepaper that offers solutions for networking legacy security systems
Somerset, NJ (January 24, 2012) – American Fibertek, Inc. (AFI) has published a new white paper that provides valuable information and guidelines for enabling IP connectivity of analog and legacy video surveillance and security devices. "Network Connectivity for Legacy Security Systems" is available on the AFI website at www.americanfibertek.com, located under the New Products tab on the Products section of the website.
"Upgrading an existing analog video surveillance or security system to network functionality is now both easier and more economical with AFI's network communication devices," said Jack Fernandes, President and CEO of AFI. "The white paper offers a practical overview, with examples, of how our Net I/O series allows network connectivity of virtually any video, access control and alarm or fire/safety devices."
Content in the white paper includes technical descriptions such as accessing and configuring tasks through a Web browser and integrating video or access control systems. The paper also discusses the many benefits and advantages of immediate communication that a networked system allows. Distance restrictions are eliminated because information from the alarms can be sent anywhere in the world where there is Internet access in the form of text messages or emails.
With minimal investment, AFI products such as the Net I/O series can bring legacy video surveillance and security systems onto the network without going through a server and enable users to gain the speed and advantages of a network connected system.
