It’s official. Tyco has renamed its commercial security business in North America, and the new name is Tyco Integrated Security.
The name change was first announced back in March 2012 during the ISC West tradeshow. At that time, the company started the process of transitioning the operations over to the new Tyco Integrated Security branding as it prepares for the forthcoming separation from ADT’s residential security business unit. The branding change for the commercial unit was announced by Brian McDonald, the chief operating officer for Tyco Fire & Security, and the acting president for Tyco Integrated Security.
In a statement released to announce the name change, McDonald said that while the name is changing, he has no intentions to change the customer service. “Although our name has changed, you can count on the same commitment, passion, leading-edge technologies and reliability you’ve come to expect from the commercial security industry leader,” wrote McDonald.
The firm, which has around half a million customers, employees more than 10,000 persons in North America and is headquartered in the city of Boca Raton, Fla. It is being separated from the ADT residential security unit as part of a Tyco split that will also create a third separate business in the area of flow controls. While the Tyco Integrated Security brand will be used for commercial security services in North America, the commercial security unit will continue to use the ADT brand in some overseas locations.
