Acquisition adds commercial-grade video solution to company's portfolio of services

Alarm.com announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Chicago-based Secure-i, Inc., a provider of commercial video surveillance services.  According to a statement, the acquisition gives Alarm.com a standalone, commercial-grade video offering that includes cloud-based hosted services and HD surveillance cameras from Axis Communications.

Dealers and integrators of both companies can now deliver everything from residential smart home solutions to large commercial installations requiring dozens of high-end cameras, multi-site management and a flexible range of secure streaming and recording options.

“Alarm.com is committed to providing our channel partners with the best solutions for both the residential and commercial market segments,” said Jeff Bedell, Alarm.com’s chief strategy and innovation officer.  “Cloud services continue to dramatically change the way security and automation services are delivered, but the primary focus has been on the home.  Alarm.com’s acquisition of Secure-i gives us a standalone commercial video solution and it complements other investments we are making to bring a full range of interactive services to the commercial segment.”

Secure-i’s solution architecture includes a wide selection of high-end, commercial grade cameras from Axis and 24/7 cloud streaming with redundant on-camera and local storage for continuous HD recording. The ability to integrate Secure-i’s hosted video solution with Alarm.com’s network infrastructure will offer dealers a scalable, fully redundant, and easy to install hosted video solution.

“This acquisition lets us maintain our focus on delivering leading solutions and services to our partners,” said William Larrabee, CEO of Secure-i.  “The Secure-i team will continue with the same great support to our customers and also offer Alarm.com dealers the opportunity to extend their solutions to the commercial environment.”

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
