Magazine's annual ranking of the top 50 fastest-growing security integrators unveiled at ISC West awards ceremony sponsored by SIA

Las Vegas - Security Business magazine unveiled its eighth annual Fast50 on Wednesday at ISC West, and Select Security of Lancaster, Pa., was named as the fastest-growing security integrator in North America. The magazine's Editor-in-Chief, Paul Rothman, also revealed the full list of 50 fast-growing firms, and honored the top five companies on stage at the event, which was sponsored by the Security Industry Association.

Select Security rose to the top of the rankings thanks to an aggressive M&A strategy coupled with healthy organic growth; in fact, the company has made 15 acquisitions in the past two years, including purchasing all of the U.S.-based accounts from AlarmForce in 2017. “A company of the size we are today is a very different animal than when I started Select Security in 2003,” says Patrick Egan, CEO of Select Security. “Who would have thought that 16 years later, we would have more than 80,000 customers and 24 branch offices.”

Egan, along with company President Steve Firestone and VP of Marketing Joe Mitton, accepted the award on behalf of Select Security. The company will be featured as the cover story in the April issue of Security Business, along with the results of the exclusive Fast50 market research and feature articles on each of the top five companies.

The rest of the top five fastest-growing security integrators were also honored on stage. They included:

No. 2 Briscoe Protective Systems of Centereach, N.Y., which recently merged with Worldwide Security and SCAN Security to become one of the largest privately held security service providers in New York. Alexander Schuil, who took over as CEO of the company in 2017 as part of a unique “Search Fund Model,” accepted the award on behalf of the company.

No. 3 Convergint Technologies is no stranger to the Fast50; in fact, the company has risen to the third spot from No. 5 last year – thanks to an extremely active M&A strategy that saw the company achieve a record-breaking 2018, in which Convergint acquired nine integration firms, hired its 4,000th colleague and topped the billion-dollar mark in gross revenue. VP Mike Kuhn accepted the award on stage.

No. 4 is the physical security unit of Presidio Technologies. The New York-based company is the model to which many security integration firms are hoping to achieve – coupling traditional physical security equipment and services with an IT-based Managed Service Provider (MSP) business model, including cloud computing, Security as a Service and Infrastructure as a Service. Tom Montes, VP of Physical Security, along with his team, accepted the award on stage for Presidio.

No. 5 Prime Communications Inc., Omaha, Neb., is also an IT firm that branched into physical security to find growth and success. The company has found success with its own version of the managed services model, which includes many personalized services for it many clients. Company COO Jamie Bumgardner appeared on stage to accept the award at ISC West.
