Feb. 7, 2025
The purchase expands Pye-Barker's service footprint in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin, as well as its fire protection and suppression services for commercial kitchens.

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety announced on Thursday the acquisition of Fire Science Techniques, an Illinois-based fire protection services company with thousands of customers throughout the Midwest. The purchase expands Pye-Barker's service footprint in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin, as well as its fire protection and suppression services for commercial kitchens.

"At Pye-Barker, our success is driven by the passion and expertise of our growing network of talented and specialized people," said Bart Proctor, CEO of Pye-Barker Fire & Safety. "The team at Fire Science Techniques shares our commitment to continued knowledge and training. Welcoming them into our culture of collaboration and growth is an opportunity to protect communities and deliver quality care for customers."

Fire Science Techniques offers fire suppression services for commercial kitchens and paint booths, system installation, facility inspection, testing, and emergency lighting. The company also services fire extinguishers for restaurants, schools, and healthcare facilities.

Backed by Pye-Barker's support, Fire Science Techniques' technicians will continue to service their Midwest customers. Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, LLP represented Pye-Barker in the transaction.

"Since 1984, Fire Science Techniques has invested in the deep expertise of its associates to best serve the needs of commercial kitchens and other businesses—which often have highly specific and regulated needs," said Michael Stephany, owner of Fire Science Techniques. "Joining Pye-Barker is another great opportunity for our associates to grow while expanding our mission of protecting more lives and more property. We're proud of what we've built and look forward to seeing that legacy continue as part of the Pye-Barker family."

In early January, Pye-Barker announced that it had raised additional capital to expand its technician workforce, enhance customer service, and foster strategic growth through acquisitions. The addition of Fire Science Techniques is one step further toward enhancing its integrated, full-service offerings.

The company's aggressive "buy-and-build" strategy has expanded its reach to 46 U.S. states.

“Pye-Barker is nothing without our people,” said Rebecca True, Pye-Barker Chief Human Resources Officer. “While we grow our service offerings and locations to better support our customers, we remain focused on designing a workplace that’s among the best in terms of team camaraderie and gives everyone the chance to define their legacy and build the career of their choosing.”
