SDI awarded security technology upgrade at Chattanooga Airport
CHICAGO, December 16, 2015 - SDI (SDI Solutions LLC), the mission-critical IT systems integrator, has been selected to upgrade the security technology environment at the Chattanooga Airport, to improve airport safety, accelerate incident response times and enhance customer experience. The contract expands a successful 8-year relationship between SDI and the Chattanooga Airport.
Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport, also known as Lovell Field, is a public Class C airport located just outside of the central business district of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Owned and operated by the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority, the airport saw tremendous customer growth in 2014, with a record-breaking 14 percent increase in total enplanements over 2013.
SDI will migrate the airport to an end-to-end Avigilon security solution, which cost-effectively integrates existing airport cameras and building/access control systems while adding high-definition (HD) and megapixel camera technology, advanced analytics and advanced storage infrastructure. Well-versed in deploying security technology in live airport environments, SDI will deploy the contracted security upgrades in parallel with the airport’s existing systems to ensure uninterrupted surveillance coverage. SDI will fully integrate the new Avigilon system with Chattanooga’s Airport Operation Center (AOC) video wall and workstations, and provide on-going support following the installation.
With the advanced Avigilon platform in place, the airport will significantly increase the quality of video that is processed by its AOC, as well as leverage video analytics to effectively allocate personnel and maintain federal security standards. “As we position ourselves for continued growth, Chattanooga Airport is committed to improving our customers’ overall experience - and airport security is a priority element in that effort,” said Terry Hart, airport president. "This upgrade project – and others in the future - will provide us with the tools to provide passengers, airlines and concessionaires with the safest airport environment possible."
SDI will continue to provide technology advisory services to ensure that the airport maintains the proper balance in its cutting-edge and cost-effective security system. “SDI is pleased to facilitate the security technology upgrade necessary for the Chattanooga Airport to be on the forefront of security technology in the aviation industry,” states Brian Glandon, Business Development Manager-Critical Infrastructure. SDI is a national strategic partner with Avigilon.
Recently re-awarded Chicago and Midway International Airport’s security managed services contract, SDI has been providing delivery of advanced security technologies and infrastructure to airport and public safety clients since 1991. SDI’s hybrid of security and IT professionals are versed in aviation standards including Transportation Security Agency (TSA) Regulations (TSRs) parts 1542 and 1544 and FAA Regulations (FAR) 139. The firm has a well-established track record of deploying large-scale video, access control, intrusion and dispatch systems within live, Category X airport environments. Additionally, SDI has in-house network infrastructure practice to deploy necessary network infrastructure, storage components, and on-going systems administration programs. The firm is an active member of aviation and security technology industry groups including ACI, AAAE and ASIS, all of which informs the firm’s trusted advisory services for its portfolio of aviation clients.
