LAS VEGAS - In a year that has marked a return to large-scale, in-person trade shows, it is perhaps fitting that a product borne out of the industry’s increased adoption of touchless access solutions in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic took home the top prize in the 2022 Security Industry Association’s New Products and Solutions (NPS) Awards at ISC West.
Allegion was recognized on Wednesday during the annual NPA awards ceremony with the Best New Product Award for its LCN 6400 COMPACT Series door operator, which also laid claim to the top prize in the “Access Control Software, Hardwire, Devices & Peripherals – Wired” category.
The LCN6400 COMPACT Series, which is bolt-on door operator, enables integrators to convert existing LCN 4040XP mechanical door closers to touchless solutions for automated opening and closing when combined with an actuator. The product retails for less than $1,000 MSRP and can be installed in about 20 minutes.
The product also does not require any additional electrical infrastructure to be run to the door as the operator can be powered by a 24-volt DC power supply or, alternatively, it can simply be plugged into an existing 110-volt wall outlet.
Additionally, SIA announced that the Hakimo Alarm Monitoring 2.0 software platform, which was named the winner of the Commercial Monitoring Solutions category, had also been recognized with the 2022 Judges' Choice Award.
According to Hakimo Co-Founder and CEO Sam Joseph, the company’s AI-powered software sits on top of existing video surveillance and access control systems to help monitoring centers automate repetitive tasks while simultaneously helping them reduce false alarms by anywhere form 75% to 85% on average.
Rather than simply creating a technology for the sake of it “being cool,” Joseph told SecurityInfoWatch.com on Wednesday that their goal was to develop an offering that would address real-world challenges for the industry and that the Hakimo software is doing just that.
ASSA ABLOY was also named the recipient of the SIA NPS Merit Award, which recognizes an individual or company who, through their support of SIA NPS, demonstrates a commitment to the vision and mission of the program, contributes to its success and promotes the advancement of SIA and the security industry overall.
“SIA applauds the 2022 SIA NPS Awards honorees, whose outstanding products, solutions and technologies represent the best and most cutting-edge security offerings on the market,” SIA CEO Don Erickson said in a statement. “SIA congratulates all the 2022 award winners, and in particular Allegion – LCN and Hakimo, whose contributions stood out among the impressive field of entrants to earn the Best New Product and Judges’ Choice honors. Additionally, we are proud to recognize ASSA ABLOY as the 2022 SIA NPS Merit Award recipient in recognition of the company’s valuable service to and impact on this flagship awards program.”
