ASSA ABLOY company showcasing its scalable access control platform designed for small businesses

After its debut last year at ISC West, Centrios is excited to return this year with its own booth (8070) and bigger presence as the company gains traction with its scalable access control platform designed for small businesses.

“Since [their debut at ISC West last year], Centrios won multiple best new solution awards and has grown to become available across hardware and electronic security distributors nationwide,” explains Daniel Foppe, national tradeshow manager, ASSA ABLOY DSS. “Traction in the field is growing with customer sites now including doctor’s offices, preschools, car dealerships, offices, and religious facilities.”

The company is featuring several new products and services here this week in Las Vegas, including its new Smart Padlock, a weatherproof and rechargeable lock that allows users to manage access right from the Centrios app to virtually anything they can put a padlock on, and the Centrios Pro Plan, a new service tier that expands system capacity to 200 users and 50 devices. In addition, the company is showing off its new Product Configurator and giving attendees a sneak peek at its new Smart Reader Expansion Unit and new Mortise Lock & Exit Trim (to add to its existing cylindrical locks), which are set to release in 2025.

Smart Padlock

The Centrios Padlock is a weather-resistant, rechargeable Padlock that works with the Centrios platform. With an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, a reinforced chromed steel shackle, and a battery that lasts up to six months per charge, the Centrios Padlock is built for tough environments. Business owners can grant and revoke access through the mobile app without ever having to track down a physical key. For those installing access control solutions, the Padlock extends Centrios’ capabilities beyond doors, allowing businesses to manage access to all their assets using the same intuitive app.

“We see the padlock as one of the one of the biggest things to happen in the commercial smart padlock space,” says Lucas Mason, Technical Solutions and Marketing Specialist for Centrios. “When I was a locksmith, I constantly had my customers coming up to me asking, ‘do you have a smart padlock?’ So, when I found out about the Centrios padlock, I was so excited because up until that point I had been wondering, ‘why hasn't anybody done this yet?’ If you compare ours to the specs on all of other smart padlocks on the market, the Centrios wins every time, from the IP67 rating to the fact that our locks are made of solid brass, unlike many of our competitors who use inferior materials.”

Another key feature is the lock’s cutting resistance, which Mason points out is much higher than others he has seen in the market.

“The cutting resistance on our padlock is 28.1 kilonewtons, which is like 6300 pounds of cutting force whereas our competitors’ cutting force is typically under 1000 pounds, so you can see the significant difference,” Mason explains. “You would need diamond-plated bolt cutters or a high-powered grinder to try to cut our padlock off.”

Mason adds that he has had people ask if they can just whack it with a hammer to unlock it. “They assume that it's solenoid driven, but the Centrios padlock is motor driven, so there's a motor inside of there that turns the mechanism to unlock it. There's virtually no override for it unless you destroy it. You can't pick the lock because there's no key to be picked from.”

The Pro Plan

The company is also highlighting at its booth the flexibility of its Pro Plan, which expands system capabilities to support up to 50 devices and 200 users per system while introducing physical card and fob access alongside the platform’s existing mobile and PIN-based entry for just $20 per month. To help with setting up larger systems, Centrios is also adding .CSV import capabilities. For small businesses, this means more flexibility without the need for a major system or hardware overhaul. Upgrading is simple and it’s an easy way to offer additional features and capabilities without adding unnecessary cost or installation time.

“The Pro Plan is about making access control work for small businesses without overcomplicating things,” explains Bryan Lieberman, General Manager of Centrios. “For security professionals, it’s a natural way to provide more value — without more headaches.”

As businesses grow, they often need more from their access control system, but too often, expanding means replacing hardware, dealing with complex software, or committing to costly, long-term contracts. The Centrios Pro Plan changes that.

“Centrios is executing on its customer promise to continually innovate to offer value-added products, features and services to serve channel partners and end users,” adds Foppe. “In response to market and field feedback, Centrios has been listening — and they’re responding with practical, forward-thinking solutions for growing businesses.”

Centrios is also highlighting its new digital Product Configurator, allowing customers and security professionals to visualize and customize devices in real time. Through the configurator, businesses can see different finishes, keyway options, and lever styles before installation, eliminating uncertainty and ensuring they get exactly what they need. Security professionals can guide customers through the selection process more efficiently, helping them make informed decisions without the back-and-forth of product samples or physical demonstrations.

“This tool makes it easier for businesses to see their options upfront, so they know exactly what they’re getting before installation,” Lieberman explains.

More New Products for 2025

In addition to the Smart Lock, Pro Plan and other new additions to the Centrios access control platform, the company announced a new Smart Reader Expansion Unit and Mortise Lock & Exit Trim, both to be released in 2025.

Not every installation is straightforward and sometimes an access control solution needs more wiring flexibility or an added layer of security. To address this, in the summer the company is launching the Smart Reader Expansion Unit, designed to enhance the functionality of the Centrios Smart Reader. With this new addition, Centrios provides an even more versatile solution that fits seamlessly into varied business environments, whether it’s a storefront, a warehouse, or a multi-tenant office.

In addition to the company’s cylindrical locks, later in 2025, Centrios will introduce its Mortise Lock and Exit Trim hardware, expanding its portfolio to meet the needs of even more commercial openings. These additions bring the same user-friendly design and commercial-grade performance as existing Centrios products, providing an even more comprehensive, scalable solution.

“For businesses that have been hesitant to adopt access control due to cost or complexity, these new options ensure that every type of opening —from standard doors to high-traffic entryways — can be managed with a system that’s easy to use, adaptable, and flexible,” says Mason.
