LAS VEGAS— ISC West—April 11, 2018 — SpotterRF , the leader in low cost compact surveillance radar (CSR), today announced its new SpotterXP Milestone Client. This system, a powerful combination of radar and video monitoring, allows for close monitoring of the polar bear population in Manitoba. In today’s changing climate, it has become more and more common for these endangered animals to enter populated areas in search of food; with SpotterXP, the people can be forewarned in this event, and the appropriate authorities alerted.
“This is not an after-the-fact solution,” says Ed Knoch, Director of Security Technology Solutions, NMS Security. “We’re able to track bears in real time, and we can see its speed and heading, its distance from the radar unit and its total distance traveled.” The system is even capable of automatically send out email alerts and sound a bear warning alarm throughout the community.
NMS worked closely with Spotter and Milestone on this project, providing the SpotterXP system to the end client. SpotterXP provides a side-by-side view of the Spotter and camera systems, allowing users to monitor alarms while seeing all the information they need on a single screen.

The Need
Large sites often come with complex security. Monitoring such systems can be an ordeal, requiring more labor on top of a response team. A significant amount of time is spent everyday by security personnel checking each device or filtering through a stream of email alerts.
SpotterXP allows for rapid review of an entire system’s alarms, with recorded video to go along with it. The system records the threat on camera as soon as the Spotter system detects it in the alarm zone. It then stores this recording, along with the corresponding view from the Spotter system, within Milestone, allowing for easy review at any point.
This Spotter/Milestone integration provides a powerful tool when it comes to site monitoring. No longer will alarms slip through the cracks, and with Spotter’s slew-to-cue capabilities, you will always have eyes on the threat. This means that anyone can quickly review an alarm, determining the threat level in seconds and responding accordingly. This rapid evaluation of threats can drastically cut down on response times, which can make the difference between life and death, especially for the people of Manitoba.
