Todd Research Supplies Postal X-ray Units to London's CityPoint Building
Todd Research is pleased to announce that it recently installed two postal X-ray units to the prestigious CityPoint building in the City of London.
CityPoint is the City of London's largest commercial office building in terms of rentable floorspace. The recent spate of letter bombs and the continuing problem of powders sent through the post have demonstrated that a campaign can be difficult to predict. London, due to its international political and financial profile, continues to be one of the most attractive targets for the postal terrorist.
The two units purchased by the owner of the building, Beacon Capital, were the TR Detector 7 conveyor unit (for the post room) and the TR Detector 4 Colortrace III unit (for the main reception area to scan courier items and packages).
The TR Detector 7’s belt moves at 0.2 metres per second for fast analysis of suspect items and its Materials Recognition informs the user when an item is organic, inorganic or ferrous.
The TR Detector 4 uses innovative Colortrace III technology, which contains EPD (Enhanced Powder Detection), a vital function to intercept powders in the post. Its incomparable 12x pin-sharp zoom assists reliable identification of the fine wires that go into explosive devices.
John Hedderman, Support Services Manager, said that they wished to set the security benchmark in the City for postal security by installing the best postal X-ray technology available. He stated that the high-profile tenants in the building should be assured of the safety of their post and his team of staff in the post room and reception area ensure that they screen all post before it is delivered to the recipients.
Prior to the installation, Alan Peters and Simon Demetriou from Todd Research were pleased to present a cheque for Å1,000 to the Surrey Square Infant School in Southwark which will be put towards the development of a new garden and playing area for the pupils. This cheque represented the value that Todd Research supplied to remove an old piece of X-ray equipment which CityPoint requested should go to assist the local community.
