PORTLAND, OR (July 18, 2012) – FLIR Systems, Inc. - FLIR Systems debuted the lightest and most sensitive handheld explosives trace detector on the market today, the FIDO X3 Portable Explosive Trace Detector, at the Farnborough International Airshow.
“The FIDO X3 is the latest advancement in rapid response, next generation highly mobile trace detector technology offering customizable broad threat capability to military, law enforcement and security professionals,” said FLIR Government Systems Vice President and General Manager for Detection, Jim Burdick.
The Fido X3 offers broad class threat identification to aid in targeted screening operations. The system can screen liquids, solids or vapors within seconds and without waiting to adjust system configuration or temperatures. The Fido X3 ships with an advanced swipe material to increase the likelihood of detection for particulates. The FIDO X3 can be used in aviation security, mass transit security, first responder, commercial property screening, personnel screening, high value target security, civil support team, and counter terrorism task force applications.
FLIR Systems built the FIDO X3 with transportation professionals in mind based on the success of hundreds of Fido explosives detectors fielded with U.S. and NATO military forces and at airports around the world. Adding to the capabilities of the highly successful Fido NXT, the Fido X3 adds broad threat detection including Ammonium Nitrate, TATP, and emerging liquid threats like Hydrogen Peroxide and Nitromethane to a user’s array of detection tools.
