VTI to Install Video Surveillance System for Colorado School District
SecurityNet member VTI Security Integrators today announced it has been selected by the Douglas County School District in Castle Rock, Colo. to install a state-of-the-art security system including surveillance cameras, digital video recorders and remote monitoring software in each of the district?s 54 elementary, middle and high school locations. Once installed, the district will monitor the 424-camera system from a newly completed central station located at its security headquarters. The total cost of the video surveillance project is valued at $986,000.00.
The goals of the project included perimeter surveillance at the schools, surveillance in critical common areas in the schools such as hallways and cafeterias and the ability to review live and recorded video upon demand. The project design focused upon the immediate CCTV surveillance needs of the district and also included the infrastructure to support the migration to an IP- based camera solution in the future.
Bryan Viau, VTI?s vice president of business development, said the district selected VTI because of partnerships with key manufacturers involved in the project, experience installing large-scale projects and the service resources VTI has in place to support this installation once completed.
?The district felt very comfortable with VTI?s equipment expertise, project plan and the on-going training VTI invests in with the manufacturer?, said Larry Borland, director of security for the district. ?Douglas County School District is confident the installations will be completed successfully and on schedule.? Work on the project is already underway and is expected to be completed by August 2005.
Douglas County School District, located between Denver and Colorado Springs, is the fourth largest district in the state with more than 44,000 students.
