In conjunction with the Security Executive Council's Security Leadership Research Institute, we are launching a new annual State of Security research project. Both STE and SIW are excited to be collaborating with the SEC on this groundbreaking research project!
The Security Executive Council (www.securityexecutivecouncil.com) is a leading problem-solving research and services organization focused on helping businesses effectively manage and mitigate risk.
The State of Security research will expand the findings of the SLRI's existing study, Corporate Security Organizational Structure, Cost of Services and Staffing Benchmark, which examines the responsibilities, budgets, and authority of security leaders in a range of organizations, breaking down its findings by organization size (number of employees), revenue, scope (from local to international), and in some cases industry, so that it can be used to benchmark against similar organizations.
Look for this exciting new research to launch in September 2012 in both STE and on SecurityInfoWatch.
Companies have long recognized the value of benchmarking performance, IT operations, and numerous other functions of business. However, though businesses often ask for reliable security-related benchmarks, few have been developed.
This study is unique because it has carefully crafted questions to provide data useful for creating a universal benchmark, but that can then be unpacked to build much more detailed comparisons, by organization size or by sector.
But there is more work to be done. Partnering with two key security media properties in Security Technology Executive (STE) and SecurityInfoWatch.com (SIW), the SLRI will be able to expand its reach to the more than 140,000 security practitioners reached in print and digitally by both STE and SIW.
So who can participate in helping build this State of Security Report?
Senior leaders of security programs who have an in-depth knowledge of the budgetary and operational status of the security function. Participants may be from any facet of security (corporate, information, compliance, risk, etc.), from the public or private sectors.
Those who join the SLRI to take the survey (there is no charge to participate) will receive a copy of the full report when available. Non-participants can get an executive summary of the report. The full survey promises in-depth analysis and insightful results you will be able to leverage for positive effect in your risk management programs.
