Company bolsters its presence in the southern coastal region of Florida

California-based guard services firm Universal Protection Service announced that it has acquired CastleGuard Security, which provides security for high-rise condos, gated communities and office spaces throughout the southern coastal region of Florida.

"Structural and economic changes in the security industry have made it increasingly difficult to operate on a small scale. To ensure our clients continue to benefit from the many innovations in our industry, we felt it best to identify a larger company that shared our values and royal service approach to security services," said James Donnelly, president and CEO of CastleGuard Security.

In a statement, Universal Protection said that the acquisition will help expand the company’s security force in the region.  Universal Protection is the fifth largest security company in the U.S. and the third largest U.S.-owned security organization.

"We are excited to take on the special customers and vertical markets that CastleGuard protected," said Brian Cescolini, chairman and co-CEO of Universal Services of America. "Because of our emerging presence in Florida, CastleGuard is an important strategic acquisition that relates to our core business. Universal has one of the largest HOA divisions in America, protecting hundreds of guard-gated communities, high-rise condominiums and office properties. The addition of CastleGuard will allow Universal to blend both companies’ best practices and give our clients more experience and services."
